I have the exact same problem. Fresh install on Kali 2025.4, all updates installed.
Did anyone run across the same problem?
Since I wasn’t able to fix it (took several attemts, reinstall etc.) I took another approach and installed the docker images in an Ubuntu VM according to Greenbone Community Containers - Greenbone Community Documentation. Before, I used Kali 2025.4 and installed the system according to Kali Linux Install Guide - Greenbone Community Documentation.
And guess what? I have the same problem ![]()
I earnestly suggest that if reliability is a priority for you, please consider switching to either OPENVAS BASIC or OPENVAS FREE, the enterprise virtual appliances. As the name suggests, OPENVAS FREE is free of charge.
Your bug alerts are appreciated, and I’m sure someone will look into the root cause. However, a timeline for remediation is not a forgiven conclusion. As I stated above, with the community edition, you are sacrificing stability in order to track the development progress. IMO, the community edition should be considered an experimental development track. ![]()
Bugs are often introduced by mismatches in the various versions of the components (gvmd, openvas-scan, ospd-openvas, etc.) and these mismatches are not passed onto the enterprise editions.
That being said, thank your for your efforts to troubleshoot the root cause of this UI bug, and I wil leave it up to you to decide if the community edition is appropriate for your use-case. ![]()
I can reproduce the issue and created an internal ticket. This will get addressed but there is no ETA.
