I want to install GCE and was wondering if it fits best to any kind of OS? I saw in some threads that people prefer using it on kali linux, is there any specific reason for that?

from Greenbone side there is no OS preference. We just support only specific Linux distributions in our source build guide because maintaining the docs is a lot of effort. The Greenbone Community Containers are completely independent of the OS. Kali Linux is the only (as far as I know) distribution that provides recent packages of our software.
