OpenVAS = Open Vulnerability Assessment Scanner

A further step to reduce the vulnerability scanner to its very core competence is to remove the daemon mode and turn the scanner service into a command line tool controlled by a clean abstraction layer.

The major changes are to remove the OTP (OpenVAS Transfer Protocol) and to rename the binary from “openvassd” to just “openvas”. This step was already described here:

Consequently we will rename Open Vulnerability Assessment System (OpenVAS) to Open Vulnerability Assessment Scanner (OpenVAS). This introduces only minimal changes; an updated OpenVAS logo being among them.

The name change of this module will become official with version 7.0 of this module (part of GVM-11).

Another logic change is to rename the github module openvas-scanner to just “openvas”.
