No Nmap (NASL wrapper) Scanner

Hello,

I hope you are all doing well.
I struggling with Greenbone scan since days now, I kindly ask for your assistance.
Every scan I run, it end quicly with 0.0 severity (only logs reports).
Thank’s to other topic covering this issue, I found that that I have no Nmap (NASL wrapper) scanner in the port scanner (only “pingHost”):

So my scan return no host and no port.

I’m stuck a this point cause I don’t know how to fix it.
Nmap is installed & up to date ( I did force the réinstallation too).
gvm-check-setup found no problem, and It found nmap in the step 8.
I created 2 VM and they have both the same Issue
I also I tyred to export scan configs from a greenbone docker contenair i found on internet to import them into my VM, but it didn’t work (error in PREFERENCES element). The .xml is probably too old…
I didn’t found what I need in the documentation (or maybe I missed it ?)

Do you know how I can make work nmap scanner into openvas ?
Or maybe does someone have a xml config file for me ?

Thank you for your help !

Hi @Centor and welcome to the forum :grinning:

Thank you, I am doing well and hope you are too.

It looks like you have run into a bug in the scanner. There is a fix for it, but it isn’t in the distribution yet. What you can do is when the new version is available try that, or if you are already comfortable with building applications from the source code, you could try that instead. If you are already familiar with building from source, the build guide is here https://greenbone.github.io/docs/

Hello @DeeAnn,

Thank you for your reply and your advices.
I will try to build the application.
I saw officials Greenbone containers freshly updated in the docker hub.
Maybe I can use one of them.

Thank you !

@Centor there are no official Docker containers from Greenbone (yet). The containers from Greenbone at DockerHub are just for building and testing our software at the CI.
