Kali Linux GVM 22.5 create ssh credentials

When trying to add a credential to GVM on 22.5 in the Kali distro, I get the following error:

“An internal error occurred while creating a new credential. It is unclear whether the credential has been created or not. Diagnostics: Failure to receive response from manager daemon.”

Nothing appears in the log files. Adding a password authenticated user works.

I’ve had a look at permissions on /var/lib/gvm/gvmd/gnupg, it looks ok.

What else can I check?

Seems to have something to do with the key format or passphrase. A different key works fine.
