Install openvas

dears when i try
sudo apt install openvas
i get this

Reading package lists… Done
Building dependency tree… Done
Reading state information… Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
openvas : Depends: gvm (>= 24) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

First of all it would help which Linux distribution you are using? Second Greenbone doesn’t provide any distribution specific packages. Therefore if it is still reproducible after an apt-get update you should report it as a bug at the distributions bug tracker. We can’t help with distribution specific issues.

Besides that you can of course take a look at our official Greenbone Community Documentation to chose a different installation method.

i am using parrot and this full eroer

@LORDOFDARKNES please complain to that ubuntu ppa maintainer..

kali (linux) packages works a better..

Eero

it cant be fixed here?

@LORDOFDARKNES

“It cannot be fixed; use Kali Linux or compile the packages from source.”

“Technically, Kali Linux is also outside the scope, but I just gave it as a suggestion and I know those packages work.”

Eero

how to compile the packages from source.

The matter is quite complex; I recommend starting by installing Kali Linux, as it provides working packages directly through its package manager.

Eero

The packages on Parrot are clearly broken. You can report this issue at Parrots bug tracker.

Take a look at our official docs for other installation methods as I suggested earlier already

Just some background:

Greenbone doesn’t provide / maintain any Linux distribution packages (e.g. the ones provided by Parrot, Debian, Ubuntu, Kali, Fedora and similar and installed via e.g. apt get install).

These packages are provided by the Linux distribution in use and maintained by a dedicated team from these. As these teams are very very unlikely reading this forums any issues originating from packages would need to be forwarded to the responsible team in question to receive any fixes.

For Parrot this probably could be found on Parrot Security
