How to enable Detection of Portable Apps on Windows?

Hi, I’m running the Greenbone Community edition on a Linux Ubuntu Server Noble and managed to perform an authenticated scan / credential scan. As I checked the log entry
“Authenticated Scan / LSC Info Consolidation (Windows SMB Login)”
I have noticed the entry
Enable Detection of Portable Apps on Windows (win/lsc/search_portable_apps) : FALSE

and I would like to set this to TRUE.
I can’t find the “search_portable_apps” under Security Information → NVT’s.
My Feed Status is up to date.

Thank you for your time.

Hey, after searching for a different setting in the Scan config, I found the setting for the Detection of Portable Apps on Windows.
It’s located at Scan-Config → Edit Scan Config Setting → Options for Local Security Checks → Enable Detection of Portable Apps on Windows → Yes

Now the entry is shown like this:
Enable Detection of Portable Apps on Windows (win/lsc/search_portable_apps) : TRUE

Settingdescription look like this:

And the setting looks like this:

Hello,

and welcome to this community forums. Only a short remark when enabling this option:

  1. This has only a “PoC” state and has a quite limited scope of detected products (and thus is more like a “hidden” feature)
  2. The feature itself is also quite limited without any guarantee for fully reliability and support
  3. Enabling this option might increase the workload on the target a lot depending on the disc space / size on the target
