Error on running greenbone-feed-sync

Hi,
I’ve installed by sources on a VM Debian 12 Greenbone Community Edition step by step using the online guide with GSA : 24.3.0 - gsad 24.2.2 - gvmd : 25.1.1 and gvm-libs : 22.18.0.
When i try to perform a feed synchronisation and downloading the data, i’v got an error rsync : error in socket io (code 10) at Clientserver (139) [Receiver-3.2.7].
rsync failed to connect to feed.community.greenbone.net (45.135.106.143).
I don’t find in the forum such topics.
Could you help me ?
Thanks

Hi I am sorry but there a countless messages in this forum to debug (and possibly solve) this issue.

Most likely your firewall is blocking the rsync tcp port.

Thanks but i’ve understand that this new version can use notus and use the https protocol to download the data. Did I misunderstand ?

what are you referring to by this new version? which component do you mean?

To explain our architecture, we have some data which needs to be downloaded continuously to get up to date vulnerability information. This data is called the feed. It gets downloaded by the greenbone-feed-sync script and uses rsync as protocol for the download not http.

i’m trying another installation via docker and i notice that the site for the feed in the docker installation is different than the site for the feed in installation from sources. Effectively, in installation from sources the feed is feed.community.greenbone.net (i don’t ping this site) and in docker installation the site for the feed is registry.community.greenbone.net (i ping it). Is-it normal ?

You are comparing different things.

feed.community.greenbone.net is a rsync server which provides our feeds. the feed content can be downloaded via rsync or more easily with our greenbone-feed-sync tool.

registry.community.greenbone.net is a container image registry (like hub.docker.com) where you can find our container images. the container images provide an easy to use version of our software. for the container setup the feeds are shipped with container images too.
