Alienvault 5.8.19 and GVM

I am having great difficulty troubleshooting GVM with Alienvault. I can’t get a scan to run for months and don’t know how to troubleshoot? I am getting an error “Failed to Find Config” in AV, after reading some of the other threads I ran “sudo gmv-feed-update” and no difference, the scan still fails with an error “Failed to Find Config”.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance

Hi @getitdone161 and welcome to the forum

Alienvault uses a custom version that is provided and supported by AT&T/LevelBlue, so you should be able to get help here: https://success.alienvault.com/s/support

Tried that., I believe the OSSIM user forms are controlled by AT&T so almost no help on issues I have posted in the recent past. The AV open Source product may be dying, we love it and I was hoping to get some basic troubleshooting steps from the community here. Can anyone assist here? Maybe point me to basic troubleshooting steps?

What you can try is comparing your AlienVault install with our documentation, but we don’t actually know what changes have been made to work with the rest of the AlienVault suite integration-wise. For the most part a ‘Failed to Find Config’ error usually means something is still running in the background and not all of the files are in place yet, but not certain that that is what’s happening in this case so you might need to look at the logs. Our default log locations can be found on this page: Troubleshooting - Greenbone Community Documentation and specific module version numbers are located here: Changelog - Greenbone Community Documentation

Something else you can try is using is standalone version either directly from us or via a different third-party release (for example a Linux distribution that has it in their repository). There are different types of installs (entry-level to advanced) and several ways to get it. This page has some pointers on figuring out which one could work in your case: Getting Started - community.greenbone.net

Hopefully the above can get you started with some hints to track it down (or at least offer some alternatives in case you need to switch).
