I follow the link to install openvas on my kali2020. Everything goes well until I type
openvas-setup. Unfortunately, an error below occured.
I tried to find solutions using Google and Bing, each blog I read used
openvas-setup command, they all made it. Version information are as follow.
Kali Rolling (2020.2a) x64
Kali has updated their version from OpenVAS 9 to GVM 11 just some days ago.
You have to differentiate between the scanner application (called openvas since GVM 11) and the OpenVAS “framework” which is called GVM now. See Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for more details.
Therefore the linked instructions are outdated and invalid now. I guess the tool is called
gvm-setup instead of
gvm-setup seem to the right command. Does it mean I should use
apt-get install gvm instead of
apt-get install openvas to install gvm now? Thanks!
Your answer really helps me a lot! Thank you!
